"If it is only a dream, why is pain so real?" "A dream head struck against a dream wall causes dream pain. A dreamer is not cognizant of the hallucinatory fabric of a dream until he awakens. Similarly, man does not understand the delusory nature of the cosmic dream of creation until he awakens in God." Paramahansa Yogananda

Witnessing

"Exposure", Collage on Poster board, app.15x15, Framed $250
If you are interested in purchasing this collage please
email me at katherine@katherinetreffinger.com

Now that I am clear in myself and in a holding pattern,
and not communicating anything yet, it is interesting to
watch what is happening both internally and externally
while I do nothing. Dragons are being expressed, and
fought and structures are starting to burn and crumble.
(By the way I did this collage years before 9/11.) It
continues to amaze me how powerful the subtle energies
are. I used to think decisions were emergencies and
needed to be acted on immediately. Now I ask for
guidance and often find myself in a holding pattern as
the Universe sets things up for the plane of that decision
to land, or takes care of the shift altogether and I find
all I needed to do was make the decision.

Today is my one month anniversary of starting this blog.
As of yesterday I have had 422 visits from 254 visitors
from 14 countries and 22 states in the USA. I am
extremely grateful. Thank you to all of you taking
the time to read my posts.

Having Clarity

"Full Circle", 20.5x16, collage on posterboard, $125
If you are interested in purchasing this collage please
email me at katherine@katherinetreffinger.com

Yesterday I wrote and wrote and processed and
wrote some more. I went through every feeling in
the book and now I am clear. I am going to sit with
this clarity for a little while. I believe when clarity
happens all the machinery in one's Universe shifts
to adapt to the new clarity and one never knows
what will take place. Mentally I placed this clarity
on the altar before the Divine and have asked for
help or guidance. It is a big choice I came to and
I want complete harmony to accompany me in
the shift. It is always good in moments like this for
me to know that with the Divine I am guided and
I am absolutely safe.

Getting Clear

"Sonata" Oil on canvas, 48x36, $2200
If you are interested in purchasing this painting please
email me at katherine@katherinetreffinger.com

This morning I am going to close myself in
my room and write. No, nothing creative, I
am going to write my inner world into clarity.
I have a conversation to have and if I am not
clear inside it will make all the difference. My
friend was helping me last night and she has
a 2 year old. She said if she is not absolutely
clear in herself when she tells her daughter she
can not have another cookie there is inevitably
a scene, but if she is absolutely clear, her daughter
just smiles and says okay. It is all energy, the
subtle message is what gets through.

Portal

"Second Land" Collection of Philip and Sonia Beecher

Sorry I have not posted for a couple of days. I guess I have been
going through some sort of energy shift and have not been sleeping
very much. I asked for a breakthrough and seem to have received
it. The last post I did has a quote of Yogananda's. Actually I think
it is more than a quote. I think he left a portal with this. After
realizing what he was saying everything went quiet for me. My
mind stopped its' rambling. The veil between me and Other
feels thinner. How do I percieve this? Information is much more
available and so is healing energy. I feel peaceful. I read the quote
to my friend and he had a similar shift. This is why I think it might
be a doorway. I mean of course every teaching from a master is,
if you really let the teaching in. But I think these words have an
energy to them that enables the opening. Maybe!?

The Sun of Happiness

"Wish fulfilling Gem" Oil on canvas, 24x30, $900
If you are interested in purchasing this painting please
email me at katherine@katherinetreffinger.com

"You soul, being a reflection of the ever joyous Spirit, is,
in essence, happiness itself. If you keep the eyes of your
concentration closed, you cannot see the sun of happiness
burning within your bosom; but no matter how tightly
you close the eyes of of your attention, the fact
nevertheless remains that the happiness rays are ever
trying to pierce the closed doors of your mind. Open the
windows of calmness and you will find a sudden burst of
the bright sun of joy within your very Self."
Paramahansa Yogananda

"Nothing is more important than that you feel good"
Abraham

Most often I think I have to figure out what I need to
do to be happy, what I need to change, what I need to say,
where I need to go, who I need to be with.........on and on.
I believe happiness comes from happiness. Like energy
attracts like energy. I forget that it is in me, shining brightly,
and I just need to allow it to come forth. The rest takes care
of itself. Today I will commit to 'opening the windows of
calmness' and let the sun of joy come in. The sun is shining out
and they were behind clouds last week. This is something
I try to remember when looking at the clouds in my experience.

All is Well

"Is stillness just the absence of noise and content? No,
it is intelligence itself-the underlying consciousness out
of which every form is born. And how could that be
separate from who you are? The form that you are
came out of that and is being sustained by it. It is the
essence of all galaxies and blades of grass; of all flowers,
trees, birds, and all other forms."
Eckhart Tolle, 'Stillness Speaks'

I, of course, post what I need to hear on any given day.
Last night I woke up in the middle of the night in great
anxiety. It was hearing Eckart in my head speaking
about stillness and the Now that allowed me to go back
to sleep. I remembered this video of Abraham's rampage
of appreciation this morning and listened to it and it has
put me more fully back on track. I realize the quote and
the video are strange bed fellows, but they work for me
and I hope they work for you.

There is Great Love for you here.

The Collective Dream

"Shadow Play" Collage on poster board, 15"x15", $125
If you are interested in purchasing this collage please
email me at katherine@katherinetreffinger.com

I have been thinking about the dream we live and
interpreting it ever since my 'Transformation' post
and the request for reading material on it. I don't
know if there is some. If you do know of something
please let me know.

Anyhow, I was thinking about it as energy needing
to be expressed. For example there is so much anger
and conflict in the inner worlds of many of the
individuals of this collective we are part of that the
energy of that must be expressed externally as a
mirror. Hence we have war. We can't get rid of war
without getting rid of the need for the mirror. It
doesn't work that way.

It can get really direct. So many people involved in
causes are part of the cause. They need to do their
inner work so they get involved directly with the
mirror. People fighting clear cutting that have a
tendency to bulldoze for example. It is an awesome
system really. If we look at what pushes our buttons
and look inside where it lives in us we can free
ourselves and participate in freeing the materilization
of it needing to occur.

Bustin' Out

"Pollination", Oil on canvas, 48x36, $2200
If you are interested in purchasing this painting please
email me at katherine@katherinetreffinger.com

Today I am very aware of a pressure that has been
building in me for months. I am bustin' at the seams
of my life. I need more room on the planet, more
adventure, more expression, more co-creative
playmates. It reminds me of a friend of mine who
was having contractions, readying for birth and
she was on her knees in pain and started to crawl
out of the house crying that she did not want to do
this anymore. I said to her Barb, wherever you
go you take you with you. I am ready for the birth.
I know I can't crawl out of the door, but I am ready
to hold the new birth of the next stage of my life.

There that is my intention. I have put it out in the
world. This is part of my ritual for change.

Ritual

Invocation of Abundance
"To the light of God that never fails,
I am the Mighty God Power here on earth.
I invoke the light, three rays of prosperity to be here now,
The Green Ray, The Gold Ray, and the Violet Ray,
And I know my prosperity is complete,
The Power of the Universe is Absolute,
And I am free for all time.
I AM THAT I AM,
Prosperous and free." St. Germaine

I am a great believer in ritual. Ritual is an archetypal
phenomena, in that it is cross cultural, occurring
everywhere on the planet and has been for all of
recorded history. It takes many forms, prayer,
dance, cleansing, ingesting psychedelic drugs,
dunking, chanting...well you catch my drift.

If you want something to shift in your experience
ritualize it, get tribal, dance and chant to the Gods,
Goddesses, release something, create a collage
pertaining to the change, build a shrine. Write a
list of intentions, read it aloud and then burn it.
Have fun or be serious, but what ever you do, take
it very seriously, because it is powerful. And be
careful what you ask for because you just might
get it. And ask that it come in a way that you can
handle, these days I ask for gentle because I have
had more than my fair share of drama and harshness.
Gentle is the vitamin I take. But you may want to
explode into a new experience,in fact you may need it.

When I say this invocation I say it with feeling 3 times,
each time with more volume. If you do it, you may
want to do it 4 times to each of the 4 directions. Always
do what has meaning and power for you.

I chose this invocation because prosperous and free
is my issue right now. I am free on a level I have
never been before, in most ways I am done with working
on the wounds of the past. I am ready to take flight
and I now ritualize for the means for take off.

The Power of the Universe is Absolute!!!

Transformation

"So often we try to alter circumstances to suit
ourselves, instead of letting them alter us, which
is what they are meant to do" Mother Maribel

Change is one of the aspects in life I cherish the
most. I am talking about deep transformational
change. Freeing change. It's a good thing because
transformation seems to be my power totem.

In the shamanic traditions there is the belief that
the shaman's power/gift walks with him/her.
Wherever they go that power goes and whatever
comes in contact with it is effected by it. This might
be one of the reasons the shaman was often feared as
well as revered. I bring this up as a context, I am
certainly not about to claim to be a shaman. But,
I do have a power that walks with me, and it is
transformation.

I can't tell you how many jobs or galleries I have
had where the place has been reconstructed or
closed down during or right after my employment
or representation. Once the effect has taken place
it is as if the Universe no longer needs me there
and I am moved on.

Let's just say I know a thing or two about change.

Many people fear change, they may want to
change their situation but they don't like real
change. But what they don't realize is that we
need our external mirrors. This is a dream
remember? So the external is the internal.
Change the internal, the external changes itself.
Don't change the internal, the external will work
its' darndest to wake you up.

I know that our internal workings can be one of
our biggest mysteries. How do we access that
mystery so we can change? One way is through
interpretation of the living dream. If something
transpires that disturbs you, instead of going into
a reactive mode, sit down and write the situation
down. Now treat it as you might a dream you had
last night. Everything in a dream is you and so you
start with the first component of the dream and say
"I am the...whatever"...and then describe the qualities
of the component, realizing those qualities are
describing some aspect of your inner world.
I have been consistently amazed by the revealing
and liberating results of this exercise.

Silence

"The Monk" Collection of Cynthia Braun

"When you become aware of silence, immediately
there is that state of inner still alertness. You are
present. You have stepped out of thousands of
years of collective human conditioning."
Echart Tolle, 'Stillness Speaks'

The ego is very tricky and quite seductive, it easily
convinces us that it is the voice to listen to, the
momentum to act from. Last night I crashed and
burned because I fell for it again. I was depressed
and confused and wondering whether I was doing
the 'right' thing in regards to the paintings I am
working on in preparation for a show in June.
I even questioned whether I am even an artist.
The ego had my full attention.

Thank God I have developed this awareness
muscle and I caught myself. Busted!! Back to the
now. Was I painting right then? No. Was there any
decision to make right at that moment? No. A beautiful
minister/mentor, Paula Scott would always say that
spiritual practice was like sitting down at the piano
to learn to play. It took patience and and lots of
practice.

About 12 years ago I met my friend Joe for breakfast,
and after we went to take a walk on the beach. On
the walk I had the most phenomenal spiritual
experience of my life and it only lasted a few minutes.
Everything went quiet. I could hear everything, but
my perception was one of silence, stillness, peace and
joy.

One of the gifts of this experience is my hunger for
stillness and silence. This morning I am practicing
my relationship to that yummy place and listening
to the 'small still voice' as I write this and now face
entering the studio.

Silence. Stillness. Peace. All is well.

Allowing Manifestation

"Aztec", Collection of Richard Speer,
Art Critic, Willamette Week, Portland, OR

"When you no longer split your flow of energy
with contradictory thoughts you will know your
power." Abraham-Hicks
from their book New Beginnings II

I have posted this painting as in the world of my
art career befriending Richard Speer has been
one of my best manifestations, not only is he an
art critic that really likes my work, he is a beautifully
eccentric and gracious friend. I can't have too
many of those!

I chose this subject today because I won a little
something this weekend. The fact that I manifested
this was more exciting to me than the amount.
One of our local grocery stores has a drawing,
where you win what you save. Down at the
bottom of the receipt is the amount you saved
by shopping there. You tear off this amount and
write your phone number and name and put it in
a plastic bin with hundreds of other receipts and
at the end of the month they draw a name.

One name. Each time I filled mine out I would say
to the person at the cash register "one of these
times I am going to win this!" We laugh and I put
it in the box. I leave the store and don't think
about it again. Well, Saturday I received the
call. Cool huh? I thought so. So I am getting a $30
gift certificate.

Here is an even better story. I was listening to
a tape of Abraham-Hicks and they were comparing
their river rafting trip to the attitude we need to
take in life. Once you are on the river you have to
ride it no matter where it takes you, there is no
turning back. Go with the flow or something like that.
As I listened, I thought, wow, I would love to go on a
rafting trip. I am going to make that an intention.
Then I let it go and continued listening to the
wonderfully inspirational tape. I finished listening
and 10 minutes later I received a phone call
from a friend saying that a friend of hers could
not go on a rafting trip she had paid for. It was
the day after tomorrow and would I like to take
her place? Either free or if I had a token amount
that would be good too. I went on a 5 day trip
down the Snake River through Hell's Canyon which
has some of the largest standing waves in all of the
rivers in the US. It is a beautiful canyon full of
native foliage and wildlife. Everything was done
for us, we were fed, tents were set up, dishes were
washed. The company of women I went with was
great. I smiled the entire time. The first hour we
were on the river a baby bear came scurrying down
the side of the canyon, stuck it's hand in the river,
pulled out a fish, stuck it in it's mouth and ran back
up the hill. NO HESITATION!! WOW! What a
manifestation to witness.

I have places in my life where I am really challenged
with the issue of manifestation. I know what the
problem is. It is my contradicting thoughts, fighting
the beliefs of the collective. The economy is bad,
healing my ankle I badly broke Labor Day and how it
is going to be a long haul, blah, blah. I know that these
are just that beliefs, but the pull is strong when they
are agreed upon by so many. Isn't it great though
that more of us are becoming aware of the gift we
each have to create our reality?

Resurrection

Blue Easter, Collection of Sandy and Frederick Treffinger

"In this world we seem to be immersed in a sea
of troubles. Then the Divine Mother comes and
shakes us, awakening us from this terrible dream.
Every man (and woman), sooner or later, will
have that liberating experiance."
Paramahansa Yoganada

I am not sure why I am posting this painting, except
that I painted it on Easter many years ago and my
sister in law grabbed it because she saw Jesus on the
cross and several faces of Jesus in it. It was supposed
to be an abstract, but I saw it too.

I have been thinking about what aspect of Easter
I wanted to speak about and I realized as I
started typing what it was. It is the fact that the
resurrection of Jesus was such a statement that
this really is a dream. It is all smoke and mirrors.
There is no death. Who was it that said "We are
spiritual beings having a human experience."?
Reality is what we make it. We are given the
choice and the power of creativity in every
moment to realize a higher reality and resurrect
our relationship to the truth of our Divinity,
of the Christ within.

"Hanuman and Jesus are the Same"

When I was young on the spiritual path I had the delightful experiences of seeing Ram Dass speak several times. I even had a funny experience running into him at the hairdressers. I loved his book Miracle of Love, about his experiences and learnings with his guru Baba Neem Karoli. This morning I was perusing blogs and I happened upon this video of Krishna Das speaking about Baba Neem Karoli advising a devotee to 'meditate like Jesus'. There has been a magic, of course, to this blog. Finding this video was perfect to what I wanted to address. Last night I was thinking about my post yesterday. When Jesus gets mentioned, Christians think of course you are a Christian and non- Christians often get nervous thinking the same thing. Jesus was an enlightened being, a great master. I have spent much time studying his teachings. I am not a religious person in the sense of being involved in organized religion, yet my life is completely devoted to my spirituality. Understanding the teachings of Jesus is an eternal journey into a vast pool of Love and Light. There are many paths, many masters, to the same place.

Crucifixtion of the Truth

"Covenant" Collection of Richard Marcus

"There's an enormous power now, an
evolutionary impulse pushing us into a
new state of consciousness. It's the power
of consciousness itself-working through
you, and through the collective."
Eckhart Tolle

Today is Good Friday. I am not sure why,
I mean what was good about it? Jesus
was betrayed, convicted and crucified.
A darkness came over the land the last
three hours he was on the cross. That's
about as bad a Friday as I can imagine.

He forgave. And forgave. And forgave
some more. What was he forgiving?
The acts against him? Maybe, but I
think he was forgiving something
larger, the denials of the truths he
came to teach and clearly demonstrate.

This, now, is a time when, like no other
time since the birth of Christ that the
consciousness of a large grouping of
people is expanding. Children and young
adults are here that are vastly more
conscious than those that came before
them. As an elder, I have been told that
the work I, and many others, did on our
spiritual journeys laid the ground work
for these bright stars.

The Crucifixion of Truth is coming to an
end and I, for one, am glad to be a part of
it.

A Feminine Aspect of the Divine

"Virgin de Guadelupe" Collection of KatherineTreffinger

This is one of the first paintings I did. It taught me
how to paint. It took me a year. It is about 5'x3'.
I have had spiritual experiences with it. When we
first went into Iraq I sat in front of it and asked the
Divine Mother to take care of the children, women
and men of Iraq. A light actually came out of the
painting.

Later when I was having a very bleak time with
money I sat before it again and lit candles. I
begged for help. I received a message. This
Message was huge for me at the time.

This message was about the Mother. The Divine
Mother. I was informed that the Mother loves
unconditionally, there is nothing we can do right
or wrong to receive this love it just is and we are
provided for unconditionally.

This was a huge revelation for me. My first question
when things weren't going well was what can I do
differently? What am I doing wrong? What needs
to change? All that needed to change was my
acceptance that I was loved and provided for
unconditionally. That day my money situation
improved.

When I say I was given a message all I mean is
I heard it in my head. I have heard messages
outside my head, but that was early on when
I needed and wanted the bells and whistles.
