"If it is only a dream, why is pain so real?" "A dream head struck against a dream wall causes dream pain. A dreamer is not cognizant of the hallucinatory fabric of a dream until he awakens. Similarly, man does not understand the delusory nature of the cosmic dream of creation until he awakens in God." Paramahansa Yogananda

Eckhart Tolle On Manifestation

"Often people ask questions about manifesting and the power of intention, and how that relates to the power of Now. One person asked me about the difference between the continuous wanting that I write about in A New Earth and intention - the intention to create something. What is the importance of manifesting things in your life, or creating, or is that counter-productive?

There are many exciting books these days about creating and manifesting: The Secret, the teachings of Abraham, and so on. Often people ask, how does that relate to Stillness and inner peace? And acceptance of what is? And surrender to the Present Moment? And living in alignment with Now? Is there conflict, is one wrong? Or misleading?

This is an important question for almost everybody. Your own life is a microcosm of the macrocosm. If you look at the Universe, the first thing you will see is that it likes to create, and it likes to manifest. On this planet alone, the Universe is continuously creating and manifesting countless life forms. And in outer space, we can only assume – we don’t know what exactly is there – but there is a vastness of life out there, and probably many more life forms than we have on this planet. The life forms, both in the sea, and on land, including humans, they seem to enjoy a dance of coming into being and destruction. It’s a transformational process.

By just looking at life, you can see that the Universe loves to manifest. Also it seems to be the case that life forms, over periods of time, become more differentiated. Many more come. And even human societies become more complex. We have had ancient civilizations that were very complex, but our present civilization is the most complex. This of course includes problem-ridden. That goes with complexity. Every individual who is part of this civilization has a life that is full of problems. But complexity cannot go on forever.

The Universe likes to create, to manifest, to experience the play of form. That’s one movement. And you can see it in yourself, at some level. There is something else in humans, you can only really see in yourself, an inner phenomenon. The Universe wants not only to experience that manifested life, it also wants to experience peace and something that is not touched by the continuously fluctuating forms. It wants to know itself deeply, directly, in its essence. That really is the root of spirituality. The Universe not only wants the outward movement, but it also wants the inward – the return movement to the One. Every human being also embodies these two movements. It seems that you are torn sometimes between the outward movement into form, and the inward return movement to the Source where it all started. The Source that was never really lost, it is always there because it is timeless, and it is within you. You feel drawn back to that, and that is the pull toward spirituality, peace, Stillness.

Not one or the other is right or wrong. It’s only perhaps if you totally lose yourself in one or the other – maybe that’s not quite it. Perhaps this is the challenge of the Universe here on this planet, and perhaps on other planets. The challenge to reconcile the two movements, rather than to have them be separate. Is it possible to reconcile the inner movement toward Stillness and Being, and the outer toward action, and doing? I would say it is, and that is our challenge at this time.

Traditionally, it’s been very unconscious what humans have manifested in this world. They have been identified with doing, and identified with form. That has been going on for as long as anyone can remember – since recorded history and beyond. And we call that ‘ego’. The One consciousness that underlies everything moves into form, assumes forms, and enjoys the play of form but it’s not enough for the one consciousness to enjoy the play of form, it needs to completely believe in it to make it seem ‘real’. You need to lose yourself in that dream of form.

Every human believes that they have a life of their own, and that means they are identified with the form of that life. This particular physical body, this particular psychological life form, the accumulation of thoughts and the emotions that go with these thoughts; it all becomes part of that form-identity.

Consciousness is trapped, or believes itself to be trapped in that. We could say that in that state, the Universe or Consciousness has entered a “dream-like” state. It wants to do that, it must enjoy that dream, up to a point. Consciousness has entered that “dream-like” state where it is completely identified with form. It doesn’t realize that every other form is an aspect of itself. Of course, then you are just an isolated entity. It becomes quite unpleasant after a while. So you have to get together with other entities and instead of having an “I” form, you have a “We” form, an “Us”.

For a while, the Universe seems to be okay with that, to have Consciousness identified completely with form. Then the “movie” goes on. Reading through history, you can see what happens when Consciousness is identified completely with form. Then it comes time for another stage to arise, when Consciousness is beginning to awaken from complete identification with form. This is beginning to happen at many stages, this is why human beings are drawn to spiritual teachings. It is the awakening from the dream of form."

Spiritual Healing

"Zao's Garden', Oil on canvas, 48"x36", $2600
If you are interested in purchasing this painting please
email me at katherine@katherinetreffinger.com

Recently I have experienced a considerable opening in my
healing work and find that I am bringing through a much
more powerful transmission of healing and receiving of
information. I have also found that there is very little if
any difference whether I am working in person or from a
distance. I do laying on of hands, with this touch I am
clearing, unblocking, aligning and balancing the energetic
and light bodies, bringing these systems into more
embodiment of the physical. Everything is energy and thus
all healing can take place through working on this level.
When I do a distance healing I close my eyes and the
person's energetic body is right with me. Some of my
clearest information about a person comes through when I
am doing this work.

I am very intrigued by what 'healing' looks like in different
instances. It is all transformative, which does not surprise
me as that has always been my 'medicine', sometimes
people experience an instant healing, sometimes they wake
up the next day filled with the emotions that lie at the core
of the disharmony they are experiencing. That makes sense
to me as the 'pain body' (Eckhart Tolle's term) is an
energetic body and will be matched by the manifest body.
There is no healing the manifest without bringing the
energetic into balance first. I have heard that according to
'Hands of Light'author Barbara Brennan the body can take
3 months to make a shift in response to a healing in the
ethereal body. I was wondering if the length of time has
anything to do with the momentum it takes to create the
'problem', for example an injury takes little momentum
where as cancer takes years and tremendous momentum.
Then there is the level of realization and the willingness to
release into a higher vibration.

I think of all manifestations of 'disease' and 'injury' as gifts
through which we can transform and free ourselves if we
use them. I might not have ever found it on the spiritual
path if I had not contracted Hepatitis many years ago. I
most likely would not have had this recent opening had I
not seriously broken my ankle. It is still a grand teacher.
I am not saying we need to have something happen to
move us forward, but if something does and we open to
its' lessons rather than falling prey to victim thinking we
have an incredible possibility to become freer.

Finding My Way Back

"Nepal". Oil on canvas, 40"x30", In Collection

Sorry for the lapse in postings. I have been getting my
art finalized for a show and delivered, and have been
picking up other art. I have been enjoying my time on
the road in this process. I have been listening to Abraham-
Hicks and driving. I bought the CD set of The Vortex
and have, for the most part, really enjoyed it.

I have been feeling out of the stream, not lined up with
my Self lately and have been finding my way back. It has
been an interesting mix of Tolle and Hicks that is helping
me find my way back. I am listening to the stillness as I
stay in the present (which has been so easy as I drive
through the Spring lushness of the countryside of Eastern
Oregon and Washington. As my negative responses to the
things that are testing me arise I have been going to Abraham.

In these CDs they talk about things that are unpleasant to
us in our lives as contrasting events in which we find
what we don't want so we can define what we do want and
focus on what we do want. The problem we have is we focus
on the problem and try to figure out what we should do about
it. This creates more problems because we are feeling the
problem and thus vibrating the problem. We are asked by
Abraham to vibrate what we do want.

So here I am listening to the stillness, staying present, and
intending to vibrate at a higher level that is in alignment with
my highest possibilities. Stay tuned.

Creativity

"Walkin Bear", Oil on canvas, 24x18, $540
If you are interested in purchasing this painting please
email me at katherine@katherinetreffinger.com

"Do you think that when Rembrandt was painting, he
stood there with a brush in his hand thinking, "Okay,
I wonder what my next brushstroke is going to be. If
I put it there then it may clash with that. I'm not quite
sure, but maybe two more centimeters to the right,
let's measure it. It might look better over . . ."
Creativity arises out of the state of thoughtless presence
in which you are much more awake than when you are
engrossed in thinking." Eckhart Tolle

For those of you following both of my blogs please
excuse my posting the same painting. I try not to.
However, the process by which this painting was
created was a spiritual experience for me and
therefore belonged on this blog. I had been trying
(the operative word) to finish a painting for a week
now that has been sitting on my easel. Saturday I
just stepped up to it and finished it. I was very peaceful
and my mind was quiet as I picked up a canvas covered
in paint that was no where near to being a painting. I
just started applying paint, mostly tinted whites and
didn't think about it. In a very short period of time I
had finished this painting. I have been trying (again the
operative word) for as long as I have been an artist to do
abstract figurative work to no avail. This painting just
arrived because I was as much in a state of no mind as
I attain at this point in my development (which I am
thrilled to experience).

Now the challenge will be to approach the next canvas with
emptiness, rather than expectations and fears that the
abstract/figurative work will, or will not, appear again.

All is Well

"Is stillness just the absence of noise and content? No,
it is intelligence itself-the underlying consciousness out
of which every form is born. And how could that be
separate from who you are? The form that you are
came out of that and is being sustained by it. It is the
essence of all galaxies and blades of grass; of all flowers,
trees, birds, and all other forms."
Eckhart Tolle, 'Stillness Speaks'

I, of course, post what I need to hear on any given day.
Last night I woke up in the middle of the night in great
anxiety. It was hearing Eckart in my head speaking
about stillness and the Now that allowed me to go back
to sleep. I remembered this video of Abraham's rampage
of appreciation this morning and listened to it and it has
put me more fully back on track. I realize the quote and
the video are strange bed fellows, but they work for me
and I hope they work for you.

There is Great Love for you here.

Silence

"The Monk" Collection of Cynthia Braun

"When you become aware of silence, immediately
there is that state of inner still alertness. You are
present. You have stepped out of thousands of
years of collective human conditioning."
Echart Tolle, 'Stillness Speaks'

The ego is very tricky and quite seductive, it easily
convinces us that it is the voice to listen to, the
momentum to act from. Last night I crashed and
burned because I fell for it again. I was depressed
and confused and wondering whether I was doing
the 'right' thing in regards to the paintings I am
working on in preparation for a show in June.
I even questioned whether I am even an artist.
The ego had my full attention.

Thank God I have developed this awareness
muscle and I caught myself. Busted!! Back to the
now. Was I painting right then? No. Was there any
decision to make right at that moment? No. A beautiful
minister/mentor, Paula Scott would always say that
spiritual practice was like sitting down at the piano
to learn to play. It took patience and and lots of
practice.

About 12 years ago I met my friend Joe for breakfast,
and after we went to take a walk on the beach. On
the walk I had the most phenomenal spiritual
experience of my life and it only lasted a few minutes.
Everything went quiet. I could hear everything, but
my perception was one of silence, stillness, peace and
joy.

One of the gifts of this experience is my hunger for
stillness and silence. This morning I am practicing
my relationship to that yummy place and listening
to the 'small still voice' as I write this and now face
entering the studio.

Silence. Stillness. Peace. All is well.

Crucifixtion of the Truth

"Covenant" Collection of Richard Marcus

"There's an enormous power now, an
evolutionary impulse pushing us into a
new state of consciousness. It's the power
of consciousness itself-working through
you, and through the collective."
Eckhart Tolle

Today is Good Friday. I am not sure why,
I mean what was good about it? Jesus
was betrayed, convicted and crucified.
A darkness came over the land the last
three hours he was on the cross. That's
about as bad a Friday as I can imagine.

He forgave. And forgave. And forgave
some more. What was he forgiving?
The acts against him? Maybe, but I
think he was forgiving something
larger, the denials of the truths he
came to teach and clearly demonstrate.

This, now, is a time when, like no other
time since the birth of Christ that the
consciousness of a large grouping of
people is expanding. Children and young
adults are here that are vastly more
conscious than those that came before
them. As an elder, I have been told that
the work I, and many others, did on our
spiritual journeys laid the ground work
for these bright stars.

The Crucifixion of Truth is coming to an
end and I, for one, am glad to be a part of
it.
